Protein Crystal Growth (PCG) in the GN2 Dewar (Phase 1A)

Crystals of nine of the seventeen protein crystals from the first Mir mission. Crystals were grown in all sizes of flash-frozen cells employed. Ferritin and apoferritin are shown at a magnification of 70x, lysozyme at 40x, and all other crystals at 50x. Crystals are visualized with polarized light except catalase, ferritin, and leghemoglobin.
