Microgravity Isolation Mount (MIM) Facility Operations

MIM Facility

Microgravity Isolation Mount (MIM) facility on the Mir Space Station. The MIM technology was designed to sense and counter the natural background vibrations that occur in microgravity. Therefore, vibration sensitive experiments such as fluid physics experiments could be isolated from vibrations. Crewmembers could observe MIM activities by looking through the outer panel window. The outer panel of the MIM facility was removed so that crewmembers could access the MIM flotor platform.
