Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) electronic box in the Mir Space Station. The electronic box consisted of a control panel and opitical disk drives. The optical disks were used to collect the data and store the data until the disks were ready to be brought back down to the ground for postflight analysis. A six meter cable connected the sensor head to the electronic box that relayed the electronic signal from the sensor head to the electronic box.
