Forced Flow Flame Spreading Test (FFFT) - MGBX

Flame Spreading

The Forced Flow Flame Spreading Test (FFFT) consisted of a solid fuel sample placed into a miniature wind tunnel box. Flame spreading was studied in the microgravity environment. A low-speed air flow was used to study the flame spreading behavior. The bluish-white streaks are the visible flame with the fuel sample in the center of flame. The space between the fuel sample and the visible flame is the fuel vapor zone.
