Thomas on Books on Mir

In his Oral History, U.S. Mir astronaut Andy Thomas talks about the books he read during his residency.

He says that he took, "Paperbacks mostly, because I wanted low weight. But there were collections . . . of science fiction, which I took just for the escape value of it." He adds, "I took some of the classics. I took some Mark Twain because I'd always wanted to read 'Huckleberry Finn,' since it's a landmark book in American literature . . . It's very controversial . . . [and] I wanted to see what it was about . . ."

Thomas also took up some Edgar Allen Poe, as well as books on science and other subjects.
